5 Event Calendar released for Irish Rallycross
The promoters of the Parts for Cars Irish Rallycross Championship have released their 2023 Calendar dates with the Championship taking in a UK venue in 2023. The full list of dates are as follows
Rounds 1 & 2 | 4th & 5th March | Mondello Park | ||
Rounds 3 & 4 | 3rd & 4th June | Mondello Park | ||
Rounds 5 & 6 | 19th & 20th August | Pembrey | ||
Rounds 7 & 8 | 18th & 19th November | Mondello Park | ||
Round 9 | 10th December | Mondello Park |
All rounds apart from the final event will feature double headers in this year’s championship which will see competitors battle over two days of hectic on-track activity. The condensed calendar will assist competitors in keeping travel costs to a minimum which is hoped will assist with competitor entry numbers during the current cost of living crisis.
Once again the June Bank Holiday weekend will see the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship return to compete against the best of Irish talent to entertain the spectators. The 2022 event was the highlight of many British competitors season last year and indications are that even more British competitors will join us for the Bank Holiday weekend of action.
August will see Irish rallycross competitors return the favour by joining the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship at their event in Pembrey in South Wales. Support will be given by Bell Transport and Logistics who will be able to assist with customs clearance and Mondello Park have also negotiated preferential rates for ferry crossings with Irish Ferries.
Commenting on the calendar, Championship Manager, Drew Furlong said, “Irish Rallycross has struggled over the last few years, but with the assistance of many competitors, officials and volunteers we hope that the time and money invested in the sport will allow competitors, spectators and officials to once again to show the reason why rallycross is one of the most intense and high octane spectacles in motorsport. We have exciting plans for the coming season which we hope will see competitors return to the discipline and provide an even bigger spectacle for the motorsport fans”
